That was my comparison when I was looking to get out of my A6. Ultimately I felt the S6 wasn't really a step up from my A6 Prestige, which had every option but Cold Weather and B&O. I found a nice 2015 A8 NWB, which was only missing night vision and B&O of the available options. I think the A8 in NWB form is a good compromise in terms of size vs. the A8L, and the 4.0T is awesome.
