Default Seat question, side body and leg bolsters...

Are they supposed to deflate when you turn off the car? I assume they are air filled, and when turning off the car I notice they deflate. Occasionally while driving I notice them sudden fill up, so I assume they may drop pressure every once in a while? Makes me think it's just one more thing that can fail, wish they were moved mechanically and would just stay that way...

I think they deflate to aide in exiting the car. They reinflate upon startup which is normal and I do note they occasionally inflate also while driving. Not sure why they do that.

I've noticed them inflate upon startup, but the passenger side seems to do it part way through the trip to work, for some reason.

Jack, mine does that also. It is a bit creepy to hear the seat creak while the bolsters inflate.

I recently had my car in for other warranty work and mentioned this. They did some software update to stop it. Apparently the system was over aggressive in adjusting for altitude / humidity variation.

Paperwork says:
Found TSB 2035757/3
Performed front seat parameterization to prevent seat air bladder inflating with altitude and extreme temperature changes.

My 2015 A8 does this and it's been a little creepy for my wife. It doesn't happen all the time but about 10 minutes into our ride the seat will give her a hug and we could never figure out why. I noticed this while driving alone as well, only on the passenger side, but you can hear the seat creek. My dealer found nothing and I've been living with the issue.

Thanks again!

Customer may complain that the seat pneumatics (side bolsters and lumbar support) actuate without any input from the customer. this condition can occur when the vehicle is driven at high altitudes or when the outside temperature fluctuates.
