Default Service Due! | reset?

I've done the oil change interval reset, but I still get this prompt every start-up.

it's not a error or CEL...just a service reminder. is that something I can reset myself I'm missing?

Adam, you can reset the oil change warning on some of the cars via the MMI.

You can't reset the "maintenance due" warning without VCDS, etc.

Hey Adam, you can always reset the service light with the OBDeleven scanner tool bluetooth connection to the cell phone. Its really good price and I highly recommend it. Its far better than the expensive VCDS. I did a lot of setting changes on our A8 and A7 with it.

Here's a screen shot of the OBD11. One touch any in program app for about $1.50.

VCDS is a lot more powrrful but it is a bit more expensive. For $200 it is well worth it.

LexusLSguy, I guess a lot depends on what one wishes to do to their car. The guys with the VCDS have without a doubt been pioneers in the area and I'm very grateful but like most technology, its an evolving process. I have been able to do everything with the OBD11 (with a big thank you to Jack88, Cleex and some other guys) that I've tried. Granted I haven't tried everything but for the guy who wants to reset a service reminder light the VCDS is overkill. To my way of thinking the VCDS is a bit more powerful but a lot more expensive. Happy motoring to us all!

Does the app allow you to retract parking brakes for a rotor or pad charge, recode for a new battery, calibrate the throttle body, and stuff like that? $200 is not that much. How much are you paying for the dongle, app, etc?

The dongle and app were $60 total. Like I said I think it depends on what you wish to do. The things you mentioned are beyond my scope of knowledge but I would not be surprised at all if the OBD11 could do those things. Here's what I've done with it:
lowered suspension 10mm, start/stop light inverse (the lights off when off),amber side markers off, needle sweep, D1,D2 gear display in dash, extended running time for massage seats, recirculate button on AC retains last setting, turned off warning screens for NAV and phone, Euro parking lights, LED tail light on with DRL, green menu access.
Rookie stuff I know but for a guy who has trouble getting the tire pressure right its been a pretty good find for me. Not debating which is better, just which is better for me

I used obdeleven to make my steering wheel hotter, turn off the countdown for the seats from stage 3 to 2 automatically. Increased the LED daylight running light intensity, and few other things. Its really neat and you can do everything VCDS does. The apps are there for simplifying things but you can go into the coding part and follow the same steps you do for the VCDS. You can also retract parking brakes for new rotors and pads, calibrate the throttle body etc.
