So What's Better? Stealth [w/ Stage 1] S8, or not so Stealth RS7 [no stage]?
Here we go again.
Love both cars [both 2014, both Non-Performance obviously]. I can afford a used 2014 S8 now with a stage 1.
This year I can't afford a 2014 RS7 [no stage] but if I wait a year I can.
So....the question is...what's more fun to drive?
Stealth [S8], which is fast but no one knows it, or very fast, not so stealth [RS7: no stage: will be broke and divorced] and everyone knows it?
Hmmm...
Thanks.

It isn't so much if it would be as fast or faster but I can tell you that the growl of the RS7 clearly intimidates more than the growl of the S8. The S8 is a Sleeper Car the RS7 is a road monster. So this really is about is it more fun to be in a sleeper car or an obvious fast car?
My daily driver is a 2003 RS6 and it's not that fast these days but it sure sounds mean at the stoplight.

I, too, love the sound of the V10 NA RS 6's. Even more important, you get to hear that sound every time you accelerate, even if the circumstances don't permit reaching full speed. When I did the build for my 2011 997, I ordered the Sport exhaust, and with the manual transmission, the sound takes me to near red line --and nervana--nearly every time I shift. The sensation of speed is probably secondary.
If the RS 7 you are contemplating has the 4.0 engine, I don't think it will be anywhere near as loud as your present car.
In my mind, the thing that fundamentally differentiates the S8 from the 6/7 series is the chassis. That and the interior beauty. I have never driven a RS 6 or 7, but I test drove a new 2016 S6 before I purchased my S8, and it was an easy decision.
Get the S8 and if you need to, do something with the exhaust. Mike

Something to keep in mind is the ride. The RS7 has a much firmer ride than the S8. Given that these are large luxury cars, I didn't want the kind of ride compromise the RS7 requires. A ride that harsh is ok for a more purposeful sports car. I have an S8+ and I think it's the perfect blend of speed and comfort.

Embarrased to say I have never been in either car. I saw 1 RS7 last year, and I have never even seen an S8.
But I appreciate what you say, and I suspect the little lady would prefer going out to a fancy dinner...in the S8.

S8 stealth rules
even stealthier A8 NWB with Stage one tune APR. I rarely see S8s around irvfirvthat matter short A8 especially with the 4.0. I love my car and it pretty much spanks anything around here 0-60 3.53 seconds on PS4 tires.
