Sunroof shade stuck

Sunroof seems to work fine. I open the roof half way and the shade went into the headliner and wasn't visible so
I stopped and close the sunroof and shade returned to the rear position and wouldn't move forward.
I do know some plastic piece along the rail is broken just not sure which part.
Can someone offer advise as to how to crack open the headliner?

Looking at the service manual you may be better off removing the glass panel to get to the sliding roof headliner. See attached.
