For TDI owners - use Liqui Moly #2002 if you have diesel clatter
Bought a 2014 A8L 3.0 TDI this year in May. One of the things that amazed me is that the car never sounded like a diesel. None of that characteristic knock (clatter) that is common.
After about 4000 miles or so I began to notice clatter just upon initial cold start up, then eventually on first drive off it was very easy to hear the car was a diesel. I had read somewhere on another forum that Liqui Moly #2002 would cure the clatter and after putting it in tank (liquid) and driving 30 miles. The next day and since, no more diesel clatter at all. Back just like I bought it in May.
I purchased 4 cans of it off of Amazon, I think it was under 6 bux a can and you put it in every 1200mi or so.

Hi,
Just traded in my 2011 A8 for a 2016 A8L TDI. This is my first diesel car, so I am doing more research on maintenance.
What is the "Audi Fix" you guys are talking about ???
Lastly, any tip on maintenance??
Thanks in advanced.

Audi has to fix it for free to satisfy US Government. On top of it if your car was not fixed (modified) - you are eligible for the settlement payment. It can be from $6K to $12K...depending on the previous owner claimed it or not.
You can check if your car was fixed or not here : https://audidiesellookup.com/
Enter your VIN and click submit.
If you bought it from Audi dealer - no need to check. It's definitely been fixed.

The last line in the image you posted shows the link to take you to the details about the warranty. It goes beyond emissions. It covers the turbos, sensors, certain aspects of the engine, etc. If you go to the site it will give you all of the details.

The only special part in this car compared to non TDI is the engine. I change oil on all my diesel cars every 6K-7K miles. I have not had any issues with diesel engines yet to suggest anything else.
The rest of the maintenance is the same as any A8. Read the maintenance book and try to avoid AUDI dealership if you want to save some money
