My dealer charges 60 adl dollars to install.

I have an S8. The engine difference is significant, the upgraded suspension and upgraded brakes. I thought about supercharging my 2012 A8L but I needed to be able to stop just as well as accelerate. I went with the S8 for safety. I want an APR tune but I am trying to hold out for the best deal. Someone said back in January it was 50% off. So that would be 1k. No one is tuning the 4.0 for under 1300, I think that's the 3.0 V6. I would love to be wrong on this and drive as fast as I can to the place that does it.

The S8 has larger turbos than the A8 but there's more to it than that (internals, cooling, etc). The S8 Plus is just tune so the engines in the 2015 and 2017 are the same.

Sorry for the confusion on price - I was using "grand" in a casual sense to emphasize how relatively inexpensive it is to get an incredible lift in performance. I suppose it's more like $1,700.

I’m trying to get my ‘17 A8 to 200mph, stuck at 188.8 with APR Stage I. Every little bit helps.

Trying to also work RS7 turbos and APR downpipes with a custom tune, since APR still doesn’t have Stage II (down pipes only) let alone Stage 3. S6 is getting 634hp on 93 with RS7 turbos, slightly different motor but I want that! Hardware fits just fine though. S8 OEM cooling is recommending.

Update, silly rabbit motorsports has intake (30-40 HP on APR Stage I tune), CHRA turbo upgrade, and intercooler solutions for the A8. APR downpipes still fit. I just ordered all of the above and I’ll keep you guys posted.

How did it go dragonslayer? i have an a8l 2013 apr stage 1 ive gotten mine to 161mph so far.. crazy you got to 188 with just stage 1 because my mine was accelerating kind of slow after 150 .. i was thinking of getting the srm intake to go with it. Possibly the rs7 turbos, intercooler, and apr downpipes(ill have to add length to them ive heard it can work on the L version of the a8) but i don't know where to get an ecu tune with all that hardware, do you?

I got it up to 194 with a custom tune (500hp at the wheels) from BMS tuning. I bet if you get the same hardware they could just give you the same file. They’re on Facebook if you wanna check them out. They’re from Singapore (they speak English there). They work on higher performance and more expensive cars than our A8L (crazy rich Asians).

They said they could have gotten more out of it but I ran out of time at that location where I could do top speed runs, but they did keep sending me files to try, I was uploading them remotely via OSB II port (dimsport my genius).

Update, SRM offers a cooling solution at much cheaper prices now. I know for sure if I got bigger turbos I’d hit 200, but that’s over another $5k just for the turbos (SRM). If I go somewhere where I can go that fast again I’ll install them. I don’t know how you only hit 160, was it really hot out or something? Maybe ‘13 vs ‘17? It was pretty cold when I got to 189. Also what would help hit 200 would be to raise the redline so it hits 200 in 7th gear (about 6400 rpm). It stops pulling once it goes into 8th. Math and science and such as.

yeah i feel like they could have gotten more power out of that engine, especially with all those hardware upgrades, ive never tested but apr stage 1 claims the awhp is 474 so spend thousands on downpipes,rs7 turbos, and intake just get 30 more awhp doesnt sound worth it but BMS probably has tunes with more power. maybe the '17 engine has more power or something over the first gen 4.0 i have.. i live in houston so ya it was pretty hot when i did 160 like 85 degrees in the nighttime
