Default Ugh, body damage.

Wife's aunt was backing out of the driveway (2 lane wide) and smashed into the front of out A8...

Did a **** ton of damage for a low speed hit. Hood, fender, headlight, bumper cover, headlight sprayer, core support, grill, etc.

Was towed to Oxmoor Collision today in Louisville Ky, closest authorized aluminum Audi repair facility to me. Next closest was in Chicago.

Serious drag... I just hope it's all good when we get it back. It's at $11k damage now without even digging into it very far.

That really sucks, but at least you can pin it all on her insurance company. Next time she visits (if there is a next time), I'm guessing she's being restricted to street parking...That is if you don't particularly care about your neighbors' cars ;^) Good luck on the repairs; I'm sure the A8 will be as good as new.

Wow--just saw the damage shots. Look at how that aluminum fender just tore like paper!!!

Damn...I'm sorry...Are you going through her insurance? Your car will come back as new for sure, but your resale value will get hit....

Yeah, that's the problem. It goes on your Carfax report for everyone to see later. I backed my '11 Jaguar XJ into a concrete column in a parking garage--the damage was limited to the left front quarter panel and it was fixed good as new, but it still bit me when I traded it in on the A8L.

Don't be so certain about CarFax. That site is totally full of BS.

I had a brand new Lexus stolen in Atlanta some years ago. Police tried to pull the driver over, and he proceeded to lead them on a high speed chase through midtown... doing 60+ mph the wrong-way down one-way streets. He eventually crashed into a parking garage and somehow managed to escape on foot.

Anyway, I took the car to get repaired. Was probably $15,000 worth of damage.

Fast forward about 5-6 years later when I decided to sell that car. I ran the CarFax report to see how bad it would look. To my shock, there was a perfectly clean CarFax report. Nothing about the theft or repairs.
