With USA LED headlights is there any true "adaptive" (swiveling) feature ?
My car is the 2015 S8 with the post facelift style LED headlights. To my surprise, I'm starting to realize there seems to be no "adaptive" feature to the headlights. That is, where they move the beam pattern modestly left or right as you turn the steering wheel at normal road speeds to get lights better in the direction in which the car is moving. Do I have this right? My 2006 A8 W12 with HID's had it, as does my 2013 Q5 Prestige, also with HID's. On 2015 S8 beams just basically always point straight ahead. Good coverage and pattern but definitely not swiveling some in direction of turn.
I read the manual again, which references an adaptive feature. But frankly manual is so vague on a lot of things that feel like I could be reading text written circa 2012 for a car with HID's, or a Canadian model maybe with them. It also references being able to turn off the adaptive feature if you have it in the MMI display under Automatic Headlights. But I checked again and definitely have no such choice.
So, for others experienced with the lights, is the feature just not there with LED's especially the dumbed down USA ones relative to true matrix? Or am I missing something in MMI settings? Or maybe mine are broken or not configured somehow? Our Q5 with them was actually faulty early on, which led to an expensive warranty module change out. They had worked at first though, so I knew the feature was there and how it affected the headlights in use. Here I have no delivered-as-new as a baseline since I bought is as (slightly) used. And yes, I have the bad weather (sort of fog) function, the low speed cornering automatic function (like entering a driveway or strong right turn) and the auto high beam assist.
Manual pages are below. I also looked at 2015 A8/S8 brochure and the 2016 web site, but basically they just reference "full LED" lights in the description and no real details.

FWIW as a supplement, I found this post from 4 years ago on C7 A6 board. It seems to conclude the same thing I am seeing on the 2015 S8--no obvious side to side type adjustment on the LED headlights during normal driving.

As you surmise, they do not swivel horizontally. The LED turn and curve illumination function is, as described in the manual, emanating from the all-weather lighting when the headlight switch is in the AUTO position, and at the defined vehicle speeds. I find it does a good job overall, but perhaps a tad less effective versus the old swivel function when in a sharp bend of a turn. I do find it helpful to just leave the all-weather lights on when I'm driving on dark or dimly lit rural roadways---adds a touch more lighting ahead of you, as well as doing a good job of lighting up the front sides of the road to improve roadside visibility.
