Is vcds required when replacing a 2015 audi battery?
I need to replace 2015 audi a8L 4.0T car battery. Replacing battery is straight forward but I heard that I need to code using VCDS. I do not have this cable.
do I need to code? Or can I skip this part?

Did you permit the existing battery to go completely dead?

Are you going to purchase the battery from an Audi dealer?

Only a dealer-sourced battery will have a code. I doubt an on-line Audi re-seller will ship a battery due to acid, weight, etc. You could check with one of our forum sponsors.
You can track down your local VCDS person and see if they could help with the coding process. It's not absolutely critical if the battery hasn't started to shutdown various sub-systems on the car (activation of the BEM system).

thanks. I checked with local audi dealer and they charge $900 to replace it... which doesnt make senses bc battery it self is for $400 (on high range).
i been looking some videos online and coding doesnt seem too bad, long as you write down original values
