Default VW 3.0 SETTLEMENT OFFER

I received my VW Settlement offer today and it was for $2,000.00 plus the emissions fix. In 2015, my 2014 A8L was on lease. I converted the lease to a purchase in 2017. I was reading the settlement sheet and it indicated payouts including the fix would be much higher.
Can anybody weigh in on this? Thank-you.

Look on the Q5 forum, which has about 100x the volume of this forum for the gen 1 TDI's. They have several ongoing threads that get deep into the settlement stuff IIRC.

Q5's were the biggest TDI numbers sold, followed by Q7. A8 were the fewest AFAIK.

I just bought a 2014 A8L 3.0TDI. I went to the dealer to inquire about emission status. The emission fix had not been done. They indicated I would have to file a claim with VW and get a # before they could do it. There is an online site where you file a claim and there are FAQ's there. So this is a VW Settlement site where you can register, find out status of your car by VIN and apply for retitution and see what options you have. My chosen option is to fix car and get the accompanying extended emissions warranty. LINK

I did that, got a reference number for my claim and my car goes in tomorrow (5/14) for the work. I will post outcome.

I purchased a '14 A8L TDI a few months ago, and the emissions fix was being done kinda at the same time as my purchase of it. From my understanding, the previous owner received over $9k + the emissions fix. Hope that helps!

Followup:
I picked my car up today. Don't really notice any difference in terms of power or shifting. Drives great. Emissions warranty is 4/48K. Anytime it needs AdBlue you just bring it in no charge.

I just filed (VWGoA Claims website) and the fix payout option included a payout of 96xx.00 dollars. That was what the settlement site said. Mine is in for review at the moment will update you on outcome. I just purchased the car (2014 A8L 3.0tdi) a few weeks ago. After doing some reading the next stage of my claim will go to some settlement board and they will decide on distribution of the payout and how it is distributed. I have read that it has sometimes beed divided and parts given to former owner(s) as well as current owner. When I purchased the car I was not expecting any settlement. We will see what happens. I got the fix done and the extended emissions warranty which was all I was after.

Follow up on driving experience after the emissions fix - Drove the car a bit more at idle and just above the car now sounds like a diesel (characteristic clatter). The sound really isn't heard in the cabin but as my wife started up the car and drove off I noticed because I was outside car. As she drove off the sound quickly diminished as she accelerated. Other than that car seems unchanged.

It is May 30th and I received the Electronic Funds Transfer for the claim. If you upload info as opposed to print/mail they work fast. I filed a claim on 17th and they are paying out just 13 days later.

I understand that VWGOA decides what settlement price to pay. Does anyone know why one person gets 9K and another gets 2k?
I understand that if I purchase a TDI, as the new owner, I would receive the settlement as long as it hasn't been paid out yet.
i have been considering a TDI and would like this info to understand to what degree this would offset the purchase price.
Another question is, after the repair, what is the hit to the mileage?
Previous member also said deisel clatter was noticable.
Any info on these questions would be appreciated.
