Default Wheel Compatibility on A8

Question:

I have a 2015 A8L TDI with the 20-inch wheel package. I am looking to go down to 19-inch wheels for improved tire selection. Will the AUDI BBS SPEEDLINE RS861 19" X 9" 5x112 work on this car? Are there any modifications or concerns I need to be aware of? I think this is an excellent looking wheel, but it looks like it was offered more on the A6/A5/TT type vehicles. Thank you.

Way simpler, and cheaper two ways. Skip the 19's, which in general have a reputation for being kind of pricy for tires BTW. Instead, just go to 275/40's instead of 265/40's. Fit fine on stock 9" wheels. The 265's are really a hopeless oddball in the tire world. Probably cooked up by Audi and the tire players to feed Audi cheap OE tires and then have customers stuck with expensive quasi sole source replacements that have some magic Audi AO marking pixie dust. Not in the customer's interest of course. When there are like 6 total choices, one of which is a winter and many are sort of mediocre or with middling customer feedback, you know something isn't right. Just say no, and jump to the 50 or so 275 choices of many types. Also generally cheaper, and now no additional big spend on more wheels.

Also FWIW, that list of other cited Audis is sort of apples and bananas and oranges all mixed up. A6's have a less aggressive offset in general than D4's and are often 8 1/2s, Have to be C7 or later too. a7/S7 is actually the better donor group there to get similar offsets. TT's use the Golf bolt pattern that audi left with D3 (and C6), and A5 is just not the right weight class for a D5. There are some D4 legit OE 19's, but maybe not the most stylish. Might be a few obscure S5 crossover fitments. Way cheaper though just to switch to 275's. Yet more so if you have one of the forged OE 20's, given most Audi wheels are cast and heavy. Only really good case for a 19 is if you want meaningfully softer ride and/or you live in a pot hole infested third world country...or major U.S. city/state road equivalent.

Can't see anything wrong with going 19" wheels route. With 19" wheels your ride will be much softer than 20".
My car has 19" 255/45/19 GoodYear LS2 tires and I have no complains. BTW just checked prices between 275/40 and 255/45 Conti DWS and the difference is $10 per tire. I do not see any significant saving

I live in a pot hole infested third world city...... aka Los Angeles. I've even researched and considered going down to 18" wheels, but the 21" ones it came with just look so good that I can't bring myself to pull the trigger.
