Whistle when coasting
2011 A8L, my wife pointed it out to me as I always have the music on; when not accelerating (no gas) there is a whistle, not very loud as you cannot hear it if music is on. When accelerating, it goes away...what could it be???

If it were a loud whistle I would suspect an air intake valve. The service writer instantly recognized a loud whistle that decreased on rpm increase as a valve in the air intake system. Mine sounded like a loud belt squeal but showed up after driving 10 to 15 minutes but very loud under hood and right passenger side.

Could still be something along those lines. I had to get a cleaning on my throttle body at 70,000 miles due to carbon buildup. I never noticed a whistle, but I always have music on at some volume.

The specific details of the error you got from the scan would be helpful. You don't need the whole scan, just that error. I suspect carbon buildup hindering operation but that's just my guess. I haven't seen this particular error before.

I had a loud whistling sound coming from the right front, which grew louder as I idled. The dealer diagnosed it as Intake Air System Leak, code P227900.
A leak in the crankcase breather module was suspected. The oil separator breather module was replaced under warranty, per the work order.

very strong whistle and mil on( 4.0T ceua)
Last night was the first time I heard the whistle I blamed it on the pulley/tensioner This morning the mil came on about the same time the whistle started.
Below are the two codes I got with vcds. Any input greatly appreciated I need something to start with
Thank you

This happened to my car, which has the 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8. The noise quickly, over a period of about a week, got louder and louder until it was unbearable and embarrassing. The part at fault was an oil separator (?) that was either part of or inside the turbo inlet down in the bowels of the engine. I had it repaired under an extended warranty at about 58,000 miles; Audi told me the cash price would have been around $2,500. To access the part they had to pull the vehicles front grille/fender and partly disassemble the engine so the labor was extensive (I believe the book labor listed 10 hours but my receipt is cryptic and doesn't specify).

Yes, Audi quotes 10hrs for the oil separator/PCV replacement, but it can be done in about 4hrs with basic hand tools.... and no front end needs to come apart. Parts are around $500-$600 if you shop diligently or know someone. As you can see, my front end is still intact, and oil separator/PCV is out.
