WTF - Horn doesn't work if the ignition is off???

I don't think my last BMW's horn worked either when ignition was off.

Thanks Jack for posting your point of view on Audi's decision to stop the horn when the ignitions off. Although I'd personally put up with the odd accidental honk rather than have someone prank my car.

They have always been this way. All the way back to my 1973 C1. a.k.a. 100LS, or lemon. C1 as in, first generation of the C's, which begat the D's. Back then, electrical stuff was basically right out of a VW, as already mentioned in passing--the old open fuses that you had to spin about once a year to wear off the oxidation, tail lights that would do their best weak electrical imitation of any British car du jour, etc.

Anyway, standard Audi issue and I don't think its changing anytime real soon...
