Default 2019 D5 A8 officially announced in the US

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2...-date-pricing/

No level 3 autonomous features in the US, price tag of $83,800 for a V6, no V8 until summer 2019. Looks like my next car will likely be a Q8 or an A7.

Looks like they have botched the U.S..launch already by delaying the V8 engine until summer 2019. When a new model comes out, all the car magazines do their road tests and comparison tests right away. So the 3.0 V6 version of the A8 will be going up against S560 and 750Li and get destroyed. By the time the 460-hp 4.0T comes out in mid-2019, the D5 A8 will be old news. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. If they were going to launch with one engine, it should have been the 4.0T to generate some excitement.

I also don't see the point of replacing the 333-hp supercharged 3.0 V6 with a brand new turbocharged 3.0 V6 that makes a whopping 2 hp more (yes, I know, the torque is higher). Is the turbo V6 significantly more fuel efficient? The D5 A8 cool tech features are all available in the cheaper and better looking C7 A6 and A7, so there is little reason to pay $100K+ for the A8.

Looks like the delay was due to the traffic jam pilot and now the decision was made not to offer it. Too many potential issues

There is no V8 engine for the A8 yet, so they can't offer it in the US. Germany gets two engine choices, the V6 gas and a V6 TDI - no V8 to be had there either ...

According to latest info, no they can’t re-code to turn Traffic Jam Pilot on.

Oh no I hope this won’t apply to the a6 and a7. If so I’m going to have to pass on an Audi this winter. Darn

Interesting that Europe has more uniform traffic markings than the US.

I have the MY19 order guide here for Canada now, although there is no mention of the stereoscopic camera adaptive suspension. I see in the MY19 US order guide the OP posted that the only mention of any suspension offerings is the "Adaptive suspension" as part of the base model. Does anyone know if the fancy "magic body control" (MB S class) type of suspension is coming to N. America?
