@gb4.2, Do you prefer the CarPlay over using the MMI if you have to pick one or another? I know on my wife's car using the CarPlay removes some other detail from the screen that is annoying.
^ the other issue with CarPlay that it doesn't integrate with the virtual cockpit and head up display.
Correct, in fact my VC map turns off (turns into a compass) when my phone is plugged in. However I really like Carplay on this car. Super easy to use, I haven't even set up my phone up via Bluetooth as the phone feature via carplay works fine when plugged in.

I definitely prefer CarPlay over the MMI for ease of use with Siri to place calls and to deal with text messages (having Siri read incoming texts and dictating replies). Apple Maps (or Google Maps from the iPhone) is only viewable on the main screen, not in the heads up display or the display where the speedometer and tach are located. It's very easy to move back and forth from CarPlay to the MMI screens. I use the MMI navigation due to the viewing limitations of the CarPlay maps. (Sorry for the late reply here!)
Confirmed D5 supports wireless Apple CarPlay. On the next page there is a * indicating that CarPlay is not available in every country, but I suspect it is for US/Canada
