Default Audi A8 Horch confirmed

I know this was brought up a few months ago as a rumour, but this article came out today and the title states it's confirmed!

Yeah, I read the article this morning. Initial impression is they’ll sell 20 of them in the U.S.: 6 in NYC and 14 in LA 😉. Still waiting for pricing to come out for the D5 60 TFSI (4.0T) V8 model. Just a hunch, but something tells me that the V8 version will probably be a 2020 model, since it makes little sense at this late stage for it to be a 2019–no matter what the revised 2019 Order Guide says.

There will definitely be 2019 V8 models with a first edition package on them. My guess is that package will be priced pretty well so there is some incentive to get a 2019.

Order it today and get it in August? Too close to MY change over IMO. Since I don’t need a car until end of November, it’ll be a 2020 for me at any rate.

Ordering @ this time of year is always tricky. There's a changeover at the actual factory sometime in the summer (I believe August). If your build date is before then, you get a MY19 and all of the incentives that come with it at time of delivery. If your order date is afterwards then you'll get a MY20 with little to no incentives since it'll be a new MY.

How lucky do you feel?

Hahaha! Curious though - what draws you towards it?

The reason I ask is a bit selfish I guess. The Maybach S600 never made any sense to me. Sure it's another foot longer than the LWB S class, but the interior trims and most if not all of the parts that we can see/touch as consumers is exactly the same as the S class. It's just double the price. Maybach has a certain prestige to it and people know about it. To be honest, I had no idea what Horch even was until I met you lot!

Just curious, that's all! Hope you don't mind me asking!

Based on my prior experience, pretty sure the MY change over occurs in July, with June the cut off for current MY ordering. At any rate, I can’t take delivery of a new car until late November, so my order timing and build date will definitely fall in the 2020 MY window. The Audi ordering system allows you to specify the MY (as long as the order guide exists), so it’s not really that big of a crap shoot in my case—If, on the other hand, you place a late order for a 2019 that’s on the cusp of the close of the MY, then you could end up with the next MY if you can’t get the build date locked in in time. At any rate, incentives are nice to take advantage of, but they’re not really going to come into play for me one way or the other with the timing being what it is. I’ll get the typical loyalty discount, and I have an Audi Care incentive already “in the bank” from an earlier accommodation from Audi USA. At the end of the day, I’d rather have the latest available MY vehicle anyway, even if it’s less incentivized.
