Default Auto Start/Stop

I will say I do like the new Auto Start/Stop feature in the car. It turns the engine off before you come to a stop and it is quite. The issue I have with it is when you are at a stop sign. I don't like it to turn the car off. At street lights it is great.

So my suggestion is to detect if there is a stop sign and not turn the car off. The car is already detecting street signs, so it doesn't seem like to be of a stretch.

That's a good idea that I hadn't considered. Before I disabled it as much possible in my S5, I was hoping for a 2-second delay before it shut off the engine to accommodate stop signs on otherwise clear roads. Recognizing street signs is one way to approach it, but if there are several cars lined up at a stop sign, it could still end up shutting off the engine. Perhaps a combination of the two.

I just turn it off every time I use my car. I can't imagine it will help much at all as I only get about 13-14mpg with my daily city driving. I am in NYC so it is very stop and go, which makes start/stop even more annoying.

I always turn it off. It's only useful if you drive in gridlock and long red lights. Otherwise, it actually is not saving gas because repeatedly starting or stopping engine can guzzle gas. also, I personally CAN feel the vibration from the feature, so it annoys me a lot.

I live in a smaller toy (60K people). At stop lights when it turns off I love the quietness.

I think it is already proven that a car equipped with start-stop does not use MORE gas than one without so even constant starting and stopping based on their integrated system is definitely not a gas guzzler. On a very old motor that may be another issue but not a modern one. Otherwise it simply would not be implemented. Although the gain is minimal in normal use...max maybe +1mpg.
The annoying vibration from constantly stopping and starting IS indeed noticeable and disappointing in any car I've been in with it enabled. I had hoped on the D5 it would be eliminated with the MHEV belt starter thing but I guess not. My S6 4.0T non stop-start model is unnoticeable idling at stop lights...it is almost eerie they did quite a good job with engine isolation and motor mount implementation (not durability) in the past 4.0T.
