Mercedes S-class vs Audi A8 vs BMW 7-series (2018) triple test review
https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-re...e-test-review/
I learned a surprising amount from this review. It would appear based on the review, that road noise from thumps and stuff is still pretty pervasive on the D5, just like it was on the D4 (which is why I didn't buy a brand new D4). My only hope is that in the review, it states the D5 was on 20" rims, which is not how I would spec my D5, so hopefully with 19" rims it's not as bad.
That said, keep in mind the S class is on RFTs. The article person wrote:
"Isolation, then, but not splendid isolation. If that's your goal then only the S-Class delivers in spades, whether you're behind the wheel or opulenced-out in the back.Hilariously seamless nine-speed automatic transmission ensures it makes the smoothest progress, it has the quietest cabin and it has far and away the most comfortable seating, both fore and aft. It may not be the most engaging of these three to drive, but it gives terrific waft, and still somehow manages to convey a sense of crushing superiority at all speeds."
Well - that is upsetting. Maybe I will end up buying the 222 then, but I am certainly looking forward AF to driving the D5 myself in a few weeks!
