Based on that info I'll decide if I'm sticking with a paint sealant....thanks
i remove surface scratches with liquid scratch removers like Mothers, etc. Then I reapply the ceramic coating IF the treated area is large enough to warrant it—Otherwise I simply apply a coat of the nano-glass wax. All very easy to do.

I'm learning so much. I'm told that once ceramic coats are scratched that one is stuck with removal and replacement.

My head hurts! Thanks for the info nonetheless.

Well, if you get “keyed” then you’re dealing with more problems then worrying about removing the ceramic coating. Otherwise it’s really a non-issue in my experience. That video is pro-wax and a bit skewed against ceramic coating products. My sales rep recently took delivery of a new black A4 and had it professionally ceramic coated—And he loves it...He can’t believe how easy it is to clean the finish now.

In in my case I didn’t go for a pro application. Did it myself: polished off the initial regular wax; applied the ceramic coat (car, wheels and glass) and finished it off with the nano-glass wax coat. Took a long weekend, but was worth it. Used all Pinnacle Black Diamond products.

Hey guys, jumping back in after a 10 year gap since my last A8. Went S550 to 740 iX to 640ix and I'm in a Quattroporte now. Probably forgot a car or two in there. The new A8 blows my head off. I ruled all else out including the new CLS (yea I know it's not comparable). To my post....I was able to see a Vesuvius Gray under the lights (A6). Sales guy said "pretty much black". I agreed. I think metallic effect seemed less intense than on Mythos black. Saw a nice Terra swatch. Sales guy pointed out that there are heavy brown tones. I have seen Florette silver. Chrome gets lost in it. Too light for me. In the end Mythos wins. My big struggle is sadder brown vs black interior. 1st world problems.....

I'm 99% sure this is Vesuvius Grey:

If so, that's a nice hue of grey. I could have sworn in the dealership my take on vesuvius gray was that it was a shade of black!

Black is no luminance and no chrominance, white is 100% luminance and no chrominance. Grey is something in between back and white in luminance, still with no chrominance. The A8 has 10 options for paint but 60% of them are no chrominance, I find their options are very limited (unless you don’t want color).

My suspicion is that it’s Monsoon Gray. No way to confirm that however.

Thank you.

I finally got what I needed with good photos. In case anyone wants this info to bury the hatchet on what gray to buy, here you go:

Sort to 2018 A8s in Gray. There's enough in the UK for all of us to figure out what shade of gray tickles us.
