Default New D5 at New York Auto Show

Saw the new D5 in New York on Friday (as well as the new C8 A7 and A6). Honestly, neither car struck a chord with me. Maybe it was the color combinations or the wheels - not sure. Of course, Audi, in their infinite wisdom, had those 3 cars locked up tighter than a drum which was disappointing (Porsche too had all of their display cars locked). Anyway, I'm not likely a future D5 customer due to projected cost and only a LWB offering. I was actually more excited to see the new A6 - but it was cordoned off. Anyone else make it there to take a look?

Headed there tomorrow night. Why would they lock up the cars when the interiors have been accessible at other prior shows? Guess they don't think much of New Yorkers, I guess ;-)

A lot of cars are locked at the Philly show.

When I asked about the procedure of locking cars, I was told there are too many souvenir takers and it's best to just lock the cars.

What were your thoughts & observations of the D5, Derf? I'm interested to hear what you have to say about it....and any pics you'd like to share.

I'm told the order guides will be issued to U.S. dealers in May/June so it'll be interesting (as usual) to see what our choices are here option-wise compared to the full range offered in Europe.

Well, unfortunately I never got there. Got tied up in a meeting and after hearing from several sources that they weren’t allowing interior entry in the cars, I lost interest. Not in the market until next year, so I guess I’ll wait until they get launch vehicles in. Probably not going the A8 route but will be more interested in the upcoming S7 based on how the A7 looks. It’s all an open question for me at this point.

They locked up the new A8 and A7 at the NAIAS (Detroit auto show) even at the charity preview which was very disappointing.

During the press event- I got to sit in them. I had press passes. Maybe that's why. Idk
