Holy moly! That infuriates me even more (already to no end!). Why the blip isn't it available on the A8?!

Sigh.

I read the the material related to this and it seems to me that even if the Board approves the new matrix/laser technology, there will still be limits on the highest glare allowed under various conditions. Audi’s implementation on current models exceeds those limits, at least in the tests, so it may not be as simple as just “turning on” the feature via software release, as claimed. They my have to tweak their light output levels to comply, which means maybe the feature won’t be available until future model years are built after the standards are set and tweaked.

Are there any updates on legislative changes in the US so we can have the full use of our matrix headlights? Seemed like it was hot and heavy in 2018/2019, but I don’t see any information or progress thus far in this year.

I never understood why in the USA we are so concerned about lighting technology or lack there of. I can remember my dad imported a euro spec 500 Sl in the eighties from Germany. It was held up a customs for ever. Finally they released it and put the lights in the truck but wouldn’t give him the bumpers. Of course when he got to Anchorage had the round euro lights reinstalled.......

I must admit the lighting on the A8 is very good and I like the auto high beams but sounds like the matrix is better for sure

I remember being a car-crazy teenager when the first US car came out with “European-style” headlights, the 1984 Lincoln Mark 7. That was something! Flush glass and an aero look. Then the interchangeable bulb race began! It’s more about the US thinking we are first with everything automotive, when in fact we are often getting a version with “less”.

enjoy.....
