93 100 wagon oil leak

I need help locating an oil leak on the driver's side that seeps onto the exhaust manifold just at the o2 sensor area. Valve cover gaskets seem tight. The leak smokes pretty bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 93 100 wagon oil leak

Just changed my oil, took a look around. Oil Filter and Drain plug on tight? If so check the hose that runs from the pan. I had a leak coming from the end of the hose. I just tightened that adjustable wire strip. That worked for me. Good luck.

It could be from the back of the head. To see this you need ...

look , with a good light, at the jopin between the head and the block where the head gasket is. The only sure is a new head gasket if this is tha cause. You would always replace both left and right although this is more work.

There are a couple of other possiblities, it could be the valley cover gasket which can be accessed after removing the inlet manifold or it could still be the cam cover gasket. You will have to wipe clean any areae that looks oily and see where the leak returns.

The other common leaks are the seal above the oil cooler, this is a seal the same as the one on an oil filter I beleive and the other is generally all the joints/gaskets around the sump. These can sometimes be helped by just 'nipping' up the 10mm bolts all around the sump. Do not over-tighten tham as they are only 10mm bolts and not terrifically strong.

also check the plug

behind the cylinder head is a 5 mm allen
head and has a copper washer on it
