97 a6 Quattro avant hard shifts stuck in gear sometimes
I have a 1997 A6 Quattro Avant and recently I’ve been having issues with the transmission. When I drive it very gently for a couple of weeks, the transmission works just fine. If I ever get into it though, accelerating to change lanes or hit the kick down the transmission will start giving me hard shifts and get stuck in gear. It works better if I carry it higher up in the rpms, as well. It’s got 233,000 miles on it and has been meticulously maintained it’s entire life. A rebuilt transmission was put in at 175,000 and I did a transmission service around 227,000. Any thoughts?

Check engine light coming on? Will the CEL illuminate when you turn the ignition key on? I ask as if there is a fault in the transmission..it should throw a CEL. Having a Ross Tech is handy.
There are some fuses on a plastic bridge under the passenger side foot rest. Those fuses are above the engine control unit. Be sure and check and replace those fuses. They are for the fuel pump and transmission. As those fuses are never seen and moisture tends to collect down there ..they will get corroded and cause all sorts of transmission issues..or fuel pump issues too. They are low amp fuses..don't recall..about 5 amp or 7.5 amp.
