Another happy A6 with Silverstars...

I just replaced the high, low and fog light bulbs in my car with Silverstars and I have to say they really are whiter and brighter than the old ones. I wasn't looking for ones that would be much brighter, I wanted more the white look, but these are better. Like everyone here said the install was incredibly easy and took me about 20 minutes to do the whole thing. If anyone was even considering this upgrade I would highly recommend it.

But is the wattage higher? ...

Some manufacturers (like PIAA) use bulbs with a more tightly focused beam, so if you measure the intensity of the light at the center of the beam it appears to be giving off more light than the "actual" wattage. Hence PIAA will claim that their 55w bulb puts out as much light as an 85w bulb. Its just a lot of phoney advertising hype. The only way to get better light on the road is with higher wattage bulbs, preferably clear or yellow (not legal in US). Those blue tinted bulbs will actually reduce your night vision. Blue is a color that produces high distortion.
And if you do use higher wattage bulbs, check your wiring schematic for the thickness of the wires. I put 85w clear H1s in place of my OEM low beams (97A6 - 2.5 mm wires from relay), and the improvemnt was quite noticeable.
I have tried those "blue xenon" bulbs and they are not only vion reducing but have a short life.

I put the PIAAs i9n my 95A6Q and they were whiter, but I still couldn't see sh.t with my low beams.
