Audi for daughter
I know this is the C4 forum, so you guys may be biased, but in terms of reliabilty which would you recommend for a 19 year old young woman? C4 or B5? The B5 is easier to find, as there were more sold, but I am kind of preferential to a C4, having owned one. Any advice would be appreciated.

C4, esp if you're the one who has to work on it.
there's just SO much more room in the engine compartment to work on things.
The C4 auto trannies are more reliable than the B5's, IMHO. B5 front suspensions are a big bother to maintain with their 8 aluminum control arms that are always wearing out. And the C4 has all the nice little luxuries the B5 is lacking. With all that said, my wife drives a B5 because it's smaller and easier for her to keep track of the corners. I still grumble every time I have to drive the thing. |
I think you answered your own question. C4.

I agree with Dave completely. C4's are dirt cheap, and waaaay DIYer friendly.

plus the backseat is bigger...all the better for keeping warm on those cold AK nights!

I hope she doesn't spend too much time in the backseat!

C5 or B5. In either case get the 2.8 30v

I'am 20 and had my C4 since i was 16 love it
Its been very reliable with the proper maintenance. Iam up to 172,000 miles no looking back. The car has the perfect amount of power for someone our age. just my 2cents

should that be, I hope she doesn't spend any time in the back seat..

I think she'd find a larger sedan easier for transporting her friends in her cool car...
