I like A8 upgrade. I did not like EBC. I like slotted. I do not like x-drilled. Check FAQ for answer

Default The only part that makes the A8 upgrade not a no brainer is the carriers.

If you can find the TT carriers for cheap, then upgrade right away. My A4 had the same brakes as the A6. Actually the brakes on the A6 are the A4s old brakes. The A8 brakes on the A4 are nice, on the A6 they would be a big improvement.

I go the plain rotors and mintex from purems.

Default I haven't tried slotted or cross-drilled though I hear the slotted tear up pads and are...

a bit of overkill for street driving.Perhaps some have had good luck with them.
I've been using Pagid pads, seem fine though I'm planning on trying the AXXIS Ultimate Ceramic pads when I change my rear brakes to S6 10.6" rotors in a week or two. Will report back and I will do the A8 upgrade when I can find the caliper carriers like Greyhound Guy says, they ain't cheap!

Default It was worth the price just makes you think a little longer.

The carriers I got from purems werent Audi branded so I know they are outsourced.

Default Unless you're tarcking your A6, you really don't need slotted or drilled rotors, IMHO. I use...

Brembo rotors and Pagid pads on my '96 A6 Avant - they work well for normal city/highway driving.

Default x-drilled help to cool rotors between repeated braking. Slotted help dry out rotors in rain

There is no point in x-drilled rotors on the street. Slotted rotors help in the rain: I get better response after driving though pudles. But I agree pluses do not compensate for minuses: I have to change pads every 20K miles (well partially because I drive like maniac). Also you cannot turn slotted rotors - you have to buy new set.

Default grill

I did the black with chrome trim on my 2012. I wanted to the chrome to match my mirrors and other chrome already on the car since its an S. I also ended getting the matching fog light grills. The grill was $150 on ebay shipped and still cannot fathom why the fog light grills costs $300!!!! But i wasnt going to be happy without them.
