Brake Lights Do Not Go Out
I recently replaced the power brake booster on my 1995 Audi A6. The brakes are fine, however the brake lights will not go out. I unplugged the electrical connector, and they remained on. The switch is being fully depressed by the brake pedal arm. What am I missing?

.take a look at this and go to page 32. http://12v.org/urs/1997_Audi_A6_Syst...g_Diagrams.pdf
If you pull fuse 9..there should be no power to the brake light switch. If the brake lights remain on with fuse 9 removed..check the plug connector on the switch..do you have 12v on the red/black wire on the down-stream side?
Unplug the cruise control switch electrical connection too..just in case.
I the Audi an Avant? I ask because if so..the rear hatch wires could be shorting out, a common problem..I don't know if the sedans have the same issue.
Be sure you are unplugging the brake light switch and not the cruise control switch..they look similar. The cruise switch has a vacuum line on it.
