Flaky Keyless Entry

Flaky Keyless Entry
Well, it works most of the time. I'll doublecheck the batteries, but I checked them not too long ago. Here's what happens. I get to work, get out, depress the "lock" button on the key fob and nothing. Press it again and nothing. So, I walk back to the car, and use the key to lock the car. Then, I can lock/unlock the car without problem. Maybe my car has a sense of humor and just wants to see me walk back to the car. Maybe it misses me.

Clean the contacts too....
When you check the batteries make sure the metal battery contacts are clean. Take an ink eraser to the contacts to make sure they are clean and free of oxidation and corrosion. Don't use a pencil eraser because it leaves an oily residue. After you clean the contacts wipe the surface clean with a paper towel dipped in glass cleaner.

Your car and mine must be talking, Dan... occasionally my car will make me use the key to unlock
even if I used the Fob to lock her. I took the batteries out and swapped them with each other, since they had wear patterns on them from being in the fob for so long, but still, flaky. The Fob itself isn't in the best shape anyway, so I'm thinking of upgrading to a switchblade key sometime soon (after I do the TB/WP, of course).
