I was driving home in my 100 quattro 1994 and suddenly a high pitched alarm sound started and kept going. The car drove fine but all indicator lights including fault indicator were out. i stopped and switched off and then started the car up again and all normal lights came on for about 5 seconds but high pitched alarm persisted and the lights all went out again. I drove home quite normally and put the car away. However I am at a loss as to where to start fault finding!! Any advice much appreciated thank you.

dude is correct my switch went soon after and i bought a universal one and slapped it in. noise continued.... it looks like a relay behind guages i just removed it...
