Moaning in first gear/Check tranny oil?
Hey everyone! When starting out in first gear, there is a mechanical moaning/grinding noise that appears around 2500rpm and onward in that gear. It does not appear in any of the other forward gears. It also sometimes moans in reverse. I am thinking maybe the tranny oil is too low? Where do I go to check it? The car in question is a 93 100S 5sp with 96k miles. What else could it be? CV joints? Thanks!

Re: Hot or Cold?
Have same prob! Sound almost like air whooshing under the car? Like an exaust leak? I have a 1993 100cs auto. It goes away when warm. Shifting performance is lost too. I have a rear main seal leak. The fluid is sticky and thick! Ouch! Not driving it until mech fixes seal and flushes tranny. I had a dealer put fluid in the tranny to last me a little while but the symtoms are back. Look at the rear of the engine by the trans. See any redish/dark fluid between engine and tranny?
