My positive battery terminal is STILL spitting acid...
I've been through an alternator and now 4 batteries in 3 years, the current one being an OEM Audi battery.
This morning the car wouldn't start, so I check the battery and sure enough, the terminal cover is melted, the terminal loose and acid all over it.
Cleaned it up, reconnected, and the car starts as usual.
In the past, my problem was a battery too tall, and when someone was in the back seat, the connection would get pushed down, and disconnect.
Also, the original battery had acid leaking, and the first replacement did as well... the third didn't, but was too tall, and now this latest battery hasn't given me any problems for about 6 months, until today.
So I'm starting to think it might be something other than the battery causing this problem? The old alternator was putting out low voltage, but the new one is fine.
Any thoughts?

Re: My positive battery terminal is STILL spitting acid...
I have had batteries blow off the positive terminal due to excessive current draws, like a huge short in the line. Check out the post under the car that has the alternator, starter, and battery wires all connected into one. My problem was that that plastic piece was broken off and while driving the metal conneciton was touching the frame. I also had to cur one of the wire grilles off the bottom of the back seat.

Are you sure that nothing metal is touching that terminal when the seats installed.
I would check the bottom of the seat and check for contact marks.

Overcharge? Is the drain line open to the outside? (Pressure buildup).
This morning the car wouldn't start, so I check the battery and sure enough, the terminal cover is melted, Heat
the terminal loose thermal cycle causing large expansion of terminal
and acid all over it. boiling from heat-overcharge, high pressure
