Need help....Car won't start...flooded engine?
I changed the fuel sender unit last night on my 2.8 A6. Aside from being a pain in the neck job everything went fine. The car started when I finished the install after about 10 seconds of cranking. I then made the mistake of shutting the car imediatly off to check for leaks. The car will not start now. I disconnected the fuel supply line to the fuel rail and had a friend turn the key while I let fuel flow into a bucket so I know the fuel pump is working. I think the engine may be flooded but I'm not sure. I tried cranking the engine while holding the gas pedal to the floor and still nothing. Any ideas?

Flooding doesn't occur w/ FI engines (no acclerator pump as w/ carbs). If you're getting fuel to...
the injectors, then your ECM may not be signaling the injectors. Do you hear the injectors "clicking" when you crank? If not, then that may be the cause. Also, check the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail - if it doesn't maintain the fuel pressure, it could cause a lack of fuel into the injectors.

Thanks A6Gary. It turns out it was a stupid mistake I made...
I forgot to tighten the high pressure supply line which connects to the sender unit on the inside of the tank. I did have it hand tight which explains why some fuel was getting to the fuel rail. Once I tightened the connection the car started right up.
Thanks
