Default Oil Temperature !!!

Got the coolant expansion tank replaced about less than a month ago...had a crack in the expansion resevoir hose...as a result was losing coolant.

I had told the tech to flush the coolant and replace the expansion reservoir with the one I gave him (bought on autohausaz.com).

Now whenever I go on highway and drive above 60mph the oil temperature guage goes all the way to 139 C, the second bold line on the gauge (139C=282F). Previously, before the flush the temp would never pass 90-100C=194F-212F.

City driving it remains at 90C

Also another thing I noticed is that the coolant level in the expansion reservoir has been receding.

I took it to the tech again and he said since he can't see any residue it is difficult for him to pinpoint leak for the coolant. As for the oil temp he questioned whether I was speeding on the highway.

I VAG the car and all I got was

01274: Air Flow Flap Motor
41-10 (blocked or no voltage)

I mentioned this to the tech and he mentioned to live with it as he did not find it feasible removing the dash and taking care to the flap motor.

The Coolant temperature gauge in the dash looks good...stays at the second bold line.....

Any inputs highly appreciated.

thnks

When I replaced my coolant reservoir (for the same reason/crack that you had... seems to be common) I had it all topped off and the such... then about a month or so later, the "coolant low" light pops on in the AutoCheck. I'm like "oh man.. another leak." So, I top it off and keep an eye on it. Well, I'm about a year later, and I haven't touched it. I talked to my mechanic, and all we can both come up with is I had air in either the tube, or the radiator, and it finally "burped" causing the loss of coolant. I never found any leak, and haven't had any problems since. I just wanted to mention that since I had a very similar scenario when I replaced my expansion tank. As far as the oil temp goes, when I was younger and had just gotten the car, I really used to fly around on the highways, and I would actually take notice of the oil temp gauge rising/falling with speed. Also, sometimes when my oil was "lowā€¯ (down a half to full quart) I would often "feelā€¯ like the oil temp (gauge) was ever so slightly higher, but when I'd top off the oil, it would "feelā€¯ lower. Now, this may totally be mental, but that was also my findings with the oil temp gauge. Hope some of this helps.

Default CAP

if there is air in you cooling systems try taking cap off from expansion tank when engine has cooled and leave over nite for trap air to come out hope this will help

Default Me?...

I haven't had any coolant or cooling issues for probably about a year now. As for oil, I loose about a quart every 1000-1500 miles, but that seems to be pretty normal around here, no oil temp problems though. That's all as far as cooling and oil are concerned.

Well I have added the coolant...I'll wait for a couple days....

As far the engine temp it goes to 130C on highway driving (60-80mph)....city driving it stays at around 80-90 C

Regarding the error

01274 : air flow positioning flap motor
Blocked or no intermittent voltage

I don't have any answer as my mechanic told me to leave it "as is"

thnks for asking
