Also, what do you guys use to get the original fluid out? Suction pump? How much does it hold, and what are the correct steps to properly clean the entire system out?

Cody, you can use CHF11 S or the newer spec CHF 202.

The 202 is about $20 for 1 liter, the 11S is closer to $30 for the same quantity.

Ok. I will go pick some up. I want to flush the system so how much should I buy? Also, what’s the best way to clean the system out? Sucking the fluid out and putting new in. (Do this several times until it’s clean?). I don’t have much room in the engine compartment.

Default To drain or not to drain!

I bought a 03 Audi tt a couple of months ago and my power steering fluid is low. I've read that it's "catastrophic" to mix certain brands. So should I try and flush my power steering fluid and put new in or what? Can I tell what previous owner used by the color( has slight Olive green tent). Plus how hard is it to drain power steering fluid? What should I do guys!!!

I just bought two quarts of 11s and used one to flush and one to fill. I disconnected the low pressure line and had somebody turn the wheel front end to end. Just jack the car off the ground enough to turn the wheel.

Default S6 year 2000

I own an Audi S6 2000 with 278,000km.

I replaced the all the power steering fluid (but not the hoses and reservoir) only 12 months ago. The steering has become noisy and I found that the fluid in the reservoir is already slightly under minimum mark. There are no oil leaks, under my car, but I have not checked the power steering system itself for leaks.

I read all this thread and warnings (TheOpinionator) and understood that the correct fluid for an S6, 2000, is the Pentosin CHFS 11S.

I have 4 questions and I appreciate anyone who will invest time and expertise to help me:

1. Is the correct fluid for an S6 2000 the Pentosin CHFS 11S?
2. What is the official Audi part code for the power steering fluid (original Audi fluid) for an S6 2000?
3. Is it normal to lose so much fluid in one year (from MAX level to slightly under MIN level)?
4. After 18 years should I replace the reservoir and hoses if there are no oil leaks under the car?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Tommaso

ATF(+4, Dex VI) is prefered except in arctic conditions. Full switchover to ATF is fine with a complete flush. Don't do the turkey baster method to change fluid types, just to freshen the existing fluid. Don't mix them, but yes, everything else is better with ATF, but don't mix more than a residual amount.
