So the Audi's frame is bent

from the accident I had a couple of weeks ago. Just found out from my mech that in addition to being smashed, the underbelly is also bent, including the frame. I am debating on getting her fixed. I've already sunk so much into her already (new 02 sensors, tb, wp, serp belt, and so on) and would rather not have that go to waste, but I have heard that once the cars frame is bent, it never drives the same.

Has anyone here experienced a bent frame that's been fixed and recovered? It seems like a waste for all that work to be thrown away, but if the car isn't going to drive the same, I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Well... I found out during my engine swap that my A6 took a pretty good hit sometime in the past...

Welded frame rail:

And the inside of the LF fender is black, and the bumper is suspiciously new-looking for the mileage, so the only conclusion is the car underwent some major body repair at some point in the past. It drives just fine now -- quite nice in fact. But I'm sure the accident occurred when the car was worth substantially more than it is now.

If the repair is done on a professional machine...

...they should be able to pull the alignment points back to the proper positions. I wouldn't go with the lowest bidder. Experience and equipment counts on this job.

Good friend of mine had an accident and bent the frame...

he drove a 2000 A4 1.8t with a bent frame and never knew it until he tried to trade it in. It drove very well, even better than his 99' that was never touched and he owned since new. Like stated before, get it done right. I dont know how hard and where you hit but "most" frame shops are honest enough to tell you how bad it is and even show you where.

Best of Luck!
