So what do you think? Is it legal to mail an airbag thru the Postal Service?

Default Just label it as olive oil.

That's how we get wine shipped from Napa.

Honestly - I have no idea on the bag.

Default I don't believe you can ship them at all, it is an explosive.

When I worked at the VW/Mercedes/Chevy dealer, we couldn't return them under warranty via UPS without first detonating them...and that was 12 years ago.

Default "Will you be mailling anything that is liquid, perishable, or potentially hazardous?"

I think the latter part of that statement applies to an airbag...unless you ship it hazmat.

Hazmat shipping isn't cheap IIRC...and you don't want to lie to them and have something go wrong and they come after you...

Default That was the same when I worked for Audi 7 years ago...

...had to detonate the bad ones before returning.

The new ones arrived with bright orange hazmat stickers all over the box. Even the seatbelt tensioners had warnings...

Default As long as its packaged properly and labeled. As far as whether the PO does it, you'd have to ask

Default Danke! I remember igniting and then having them go flying into the air (in a big, open lot).

Those suckers stayed pretty warm for a while after ignition.

Default Yes, I've gotten two; one USPS and one UPS.

No issues on my end.
