Somewhat interested in a 96 A6 Avant, but it has a axle noise when turning to the right and it

needs it timing belt done.

What should I look out for with the axle noise.

From what I have seen on-line the car looks to be super clean, but the axle noise worries me.

Is there any common fails that I should worry about regarding this model year. This car would be for my wife on a daily basis and I would drive it for longer journeys.

Ballpark figure for the car is approx 7k, does that seem fair for a car with 146k on it.

Thanks for your help guys. Much appreciated.

7k sound kinda high

what does the noise sound like?

That's a lot of money for that car.

My brother in law is selling a really nice 96 Quattro with 175k for $4500 in MA.

DItto way too high. just paid 7500 for a 99 Avant quattro.

It had a lot less miles than the 96 you are looking at. You can get way more Audi for 7K that a 96

Yeah, my 99 avant is for sale for $6900. Timing belt done in November.

Paid $6800 a year ago for a 1997 Avant with 115k on it.

I'd say around $4,500 is fair if not in need of major work.
