Default Timing Belt Question

Hello, I recently put a 1992 Audi 100S back on the road after sitting for 2 years. Charged the battery, changed the oil, turned the key and have put 3200 miles on this month. I had to put in a thermostat and was way into the timing belt already, but I did not have one late on a Sunday when doing the thermo. Question is will the valves hit pistons if the belt quits on the 2.8 12v?

Make sure you do the whole kit at once, otherwise something else can fail and snap your brand new belt:

http://12v.org/maintenance/repairs/tbelt.php

Blauparts.com has a good kit of OEM parts and they'll loan you the special tools if you buy the kit from them.

How do you get the belt off of the Crank? Do I need to take off the pulley? or just a cover. I did a water pump and thermostat so I know how to do most of this just not at the crank. Thanks tons for your help!!!

Default See above 12V link and

LOCK crank & cams with specialized tools then
loosen the TB tensioner, remove belt.

Cheers,

Coop
