fuel pump install. any words of wisdom, tricks/tips.

It's pretty self explanatory. here's a few things

1. I found it easiest to take out the whole 'fuel tray' which included the pump and accumulator. You'll want to soak all the connections and stuff with your favorite penetrating lube. I would not recomend trying to take off the rubber mounts that hold the fuel pump to the tray. Just get the pump out attached to the tray. You will see that it is held on with a round clamp which I ended up have to cut off and replace with a stainless one. If you try to take off the rubber mounts you will most likely break them, and they are over $10 each from the dealer.

2. Get the tank as empty as possible. Our fuel lines are old and you WILL NOT be able to clamp it off. That leaves you with either trying to plug it or you'll have to drain it. Not a bad idea IMO Try to find the cleanest container you can. Then when you are transferring it back in pass it through a large funnel lined with a piece of old T-Shirt or paper towel to filter out any junk that might have accumulated in your tank...

3. Finally. I re-torqued all the fittings to spec and the leaked sooo use the gutentite torque spec. as always ymmv!

Re: fuel pump install. any words of wisdom, tricks/tips.

I did this on my 4000Q recently - expect to change the can filter and the bushings that hold the pump/accumulator etc to the tray and the banjo bolts. Since its gravity fed you'll need a fuel line clamp. Word of caution - the hoses between the pump and accumulator and the accumulator and the filter are made with prefit ends. You need to work the banjo bolts to remove or you'll be calling Blau for a $35 12" hose. The fittings are brass so the'll work with a little patience.
