Help with sudden stalling...
 

Alright, this is a strange one... I was driving along in my 4000s 5-cylinder yesterday, and suddenly the car lost all power (including power steering) and just drifted to a stop.... Up till this point, it was running great, and there were no signs whatsoever that anything was wrong.

When I tried re-cranking the ignition, it would crank, but would refuse to catch.... about 30 minutes later, I tried again, and it caught on the first try, but the engine would run for about 30 seconds, and then it would stall again.... This occurred late in the day, after a few hours of driving, so obviously the engine was well warmed up. There was plenty of gas in the tank as well.

In the end, I had the car towed... :(
Am not knowledgeable enough about electrical systems to know what the problem is, though I suspect its either the alternator or the solenoid... or battery?

plugged up fuel line? when was the last time your fuel filter was changed?

You need to determine if it's fuel or spark.
Check to see if the plugs are sparking. If they are, you need to figure out if it's getting fuel. Then diagnose backwards from there.
It's not the alt, batt or solenoid. You're right, you don't know much about electrics. :)
Such a sudden failure is most likely electrical. I'd check fuel pump and relay as a probable culprit.

check your 02 sensor! mine was putting in 5 times the fuel it needed and it was flooding the car out so it would die!!! hope this helps seeya!

Pull out the fuel pump relay. Carefully pry off the cover. Look at the solder joints for cracks. Look especially carefully at the big copper conductors. If cracked, relsolder. If not competent at soldering, find someone who is
