Hydraulic Engine mounts

Hello all,

I'm gonna replace the mounts in my 4000 soon (5cyl front wheel drive, canadian model, manual transmission). It seems to use the same transmission mount as the Coupe GT, and probably the same engine mounts as the 4000Q.

However, the 1985 coupe uses different mounts, which are hydraulic (as seen at performancemotorcars.com). Can I use those? Are hydraulic mounts better than rubber mounts? If I can't use those can I use ones out of a 5000 (with AC) or an 80Q, also with AC (obviously my 4000 has AC :)).

I ask because I searched NUMEROUS posts on this forum, and I ran across some guy who was looking for polyurethane mounts for his 4K, and mentioned he was using ones out of an 80 right now. He gave me the impression that the 80 ones are better than the 4K rubber ones, but not as good as polyurethane ones would be. But I'll settle for hydraulic! That's assuming they actually are better than the 4000 stock rubber (see my question above).

Can anyone clear up my confusion here?

Thanks,
Mladen

PS HTF can I find the little rubber stop mount which is supposed to help with engine torque (easy to replace?)

Re: rubber stop torque mount

Its easy to find its at the very front of the engine and goes into your bumper,,its unlikey to be overly worn, probably sufficient to rotate it. If not,, its just a bolt one bold off thing,,just remember to put the braket on correctly afterwards.

that's a 5000 piece isn't it

i've had an 86 5k, an 874k, an 86 cgt, and an 89 90, and the 5k was the only one to have that. maybe it's an auto only kinda thing.

hydro mounts fit anyhting between '85-'92 for sure

maybe more than that. as far as performance goes, if you can get rubber ones, those would be better, and would probably last longer. those hydraulic ones suck.

nope, front of engine torque snubber is on the 5 cyclinder 2.2 l manual transmission on my 85 coupe (Canadian model)
