Are they studs or bolts? If they're studs, just remove them (usually a hex wrench) and hopefully whoever put them in used the correct size. I bought a 4000 where they used imperial threads in the metric holes, so I had to replace all the hubs. I'd use the original bolts myself, but if you want to stick with studs just swap them.

If they're bolts then that would be fishy if they're larger. I'd wonder what they did to the holes in the hub.

Also make sure you have the correct lug type. It should be ball seat for the original wheels. Aftermarket wheels are usually cone seat. Mix them up and the wheel can come off while you're driving...

It's possible that they made the holes bigger. Are they both 4x108? Up to '84 the CGT was 4x100 and used the 12mm bolts versus the 14mm ones on all later B2s except the FWD 4000 (80 for you). That's the only difference I can think of that would be stock, at least based on my experience with US cars. Could easily be a different story with the ones that stayed in Europe. There are some pretty entertaining variations that Canada got, so it's totally possible.

Can you gets some pics of the bolts or measure them?
