1988 5ktq Avant 2.3L head swap
Hello,
As the title states I have been asked to do some work on a 1988 5ktq Avant.
The timing belt had snapped or otherwise been damaged, the car had been towed to another shop where it sat for about a year and allegedly had a new timing belt installed.
The car has been towed to my house and i have confirmed that the timing is correct with the new timing belt and that there is 0psi of compression on all 5 cylinders and some fluid in cylinder 2.
I am of the understanding that this is an interference engine, correct me if I am wrong
I find it odd that all 5 cylinders have no compression.
My main question to post here, will the 2.3L 10v head off of a 1989 to 1991 Audi 100 bolt on with out any issues.
ETKA says that the head is a different part number and I assume will be lacking the sodium filled exhaust valves amongst other hopefully minor differences
I have located an NOS head and intend to install it unless advised othewise
I have done a Timing belt, water pump, clutch, engine mounts etc on my old Audi 5ktq Avant without any issues
cheers
Nigel

The 100 head will not work do to it having different intake ports and no provisions for the fuel injectors in the head. They mount in the intake manifold on the NF motor found in the 100. And yes it would also lack the sodium filled exhaust valves needed for the turbo.
Your best bet would be to just replace the bent valves in your current head.
