Air bag light -goes off after a while
My airbag light stays on now, but after a while, it will go off (say 2 or 3 min). I had the shop look at it, but they don't have diagnostics for the airbag and though perhaps it would be worth trying to change the clockspring. Does anyone know / have suggestions where to start?

Yep start with finding a new shop. Suggesting that the clock spring "might" fix the problem is really unacceptable. You just need to have the airbag code reset.

Unfortunatly, no other shops in town!
I live in a VERY remote place...so I don't really have any other options - the local vw guy is pretty good, but in this town, I'm a bit out on my own if I don't drive a chev or a ford! So, your suggestions/hints are most needed!
I DID have the battery disconnected...where would I start looking into this resetting the code thing? I have a Bentley's.....

Isn't there a yahoo group that has a registry of Vag-com owners that are willing to lend out..or help when others don't have Vag-com?
Or 1hr at the dealer will cure the bag light.
Were you located? Theres gotta all so be a local chapter of Audi owners near you.

No VAG's in the Yukon!
The nearest dealer is >1000km away! What is a VAG? Is it the computer gizmo you plug in under the dash? My older Audi I just blinked out codes before...

Re: No VAG's in the Yukon!
VAG tool is a device to read the stored fault codes for the car and performe some services like turning off the warning signals. They're generically called scan tools. The VAG 1551 covers cars through 1995 models, I believe.
You don't say what year/model Audi you're dealing with, so it's difficult to recommend tools. Scott Mockry sells some scan tools. There is another supplier called Ross something or other. There also is a ProDiag system that employs a palm device.
