I have a 87 audi 5000 2.3, nf. I have a heater core leak, a cracked on the side of the expansion tank, and a faulty head gasket. I was told bars leak could help my heater core leak, and head gasket problem, and that J.B. weld would patch the crack on the expansion tank. True or False? where would you pour the bars leak, There is no radiator cap, Just expansion tank. I hate the smell of anti freeze in the morning.

You don't want to gum up your entire cooling system with that crap.

You can't get any epoxy to hold well on an expansion tank.

You can disconnect the hoses to the heater core and hook them together with a copper return bend. I think a 1/2" will work.

Get a used reservoir from Force5.

Replace the head gasket.

per recommendation of a good mechanic I know. If you add anything, pull off the top hose to the radiator. First, drain some coolant from the bottom of the radiator by loosening a sensor. Run motor at least 20 minutes to mix alumaseal type product throughout the cooling system. Otherwise, the product will simply fall to the bottom of the radiator, and forever clump there.

Expansion tanks cannot be repaired with anything. Replace the tank is the only solution. That comes from experience, and reading what others have repeatedly written. Absolutely no way to patch an expansion tank.

I would not pour it in. BTDT on a Subaru. What a mess.

I used a product called "Alumna seal" (sp?) on a Subaru XT that had a small leak in the radiator and it did work but it was a tiny leak. Sounds like your going to have to fix these items if you want it done correctly.
