Default Central Locking Motor

Last time I went to start my car, my battery was dead. When I put the charger on, I heard the central locking motor running. The only time it turns off is when I lock the doors. I can't hear any air leak sounds. What could be possible causes? Where should I look?

Default Divide and conquer

This is just based on my limited troubleshooting experience with the central locking system. First, I'd either pinch closed or remove the hose from the pump and block that outlet from the pump. Then I'd try whatever routine results in unlimited runtime of the pump. Does the pump now stop running of its own accord? If yes, the problem resides in the hoses or (more likely) the diaphragm(s) at the door locks. If no, the problem resides within the pump.

If the problem resides in the hoses and/or diaphragms, you may need to selectively pinch each line closed, one by one, to locate the leak. I use a plastic hemostat-like pair of pliers that are made by Lisle, designed for this sort of job, available at Pep Boys.

I've found leaks in a couple diaphragms -- never a hose. I've pulled good replacement diaphragms from junked cars.

Default Your battery went dead.........

because the door lock vacuum motor kept running until the battery went dead. You have a vacuum leak somewhere. Good idea to use a hemistat to pinch off the vacuum line until you can trace the problem.........Rooster
