changing the fuel pump 91 100?
Can anyone give me some insight on changing the fuel pump on my 91 100? Also, online I see different models being sold as replacements, how do I know which one is the right one?

Sure I went with the pierburg pump..................
To change it first pump out the gas tank. Undo the feed line to the fuel filter put a hose on the metal fuel line and into a container. Next insert a fuse in the top of the fuel pump relay then turn the ign. to the on position and wait for the tank to be emptied. Next disconnect the battery and remove the 3 screws holding the metal cover on over the FP. Next undo the hoses from top of the pump(a rag comes in handy to prevent fuel spray, also some heavy duty nitrile gloves, I also like to where a respirator) and unplug the electric connector. To remove the fuel level sending unit use a flat blade screw driver and a hammer to carefully disengage the metal retaining ring. After that you pull the level sender assembly up so you can disconnect more hoses. Now you should have a clear shot at removing the pump and it's basket. HTH's Also last I checked Shokan had the best price on one.

http://www.shokan.com/</a

I prefer to avoid any chance of causing a spark, so I use a brass rod and hammer to undo the retainer ring that holds the fuel level sender and pump connections to the top of the tank.
