Default Do you guys know anything about wheel bolt patterns?

I found what seems to be a ridiculous deal yesterday. 4 16-inch Borbet 5 spoke wheels in really good shape with pirelli pzero tires that look almost brand new for $165. The problem is they came off a Ford w/a 4 bolt pattern. Could my '91 20v avant be converted? Is this likely the same 4-bolt pattern found on a 4000?

Default Newer FWD Fords use 4x108mm . .

which is the same bolt pattern as 4-lug Audis (Focus, Contour, etc.) Check the offset, make sure it'll fit under your fenders. One more thing, if you want the wheels to fit snug on the hub, you'll need hubcentric rings.

But a 20v should be 5-lug, right?

Barry (with a 4x108mm Audi)

p.s. where are said rims anyway??

Default Hub swap CAN be done, but . .

1) It's quite a job to undertake - you'd need to swap out all kinds of "not fun" stuff

2) There are lots of nice Audi wheels you can get from newer Audi models with the same bolt pattern, and they usually sell for pretty cheap as compared to other wheels.

2) I believe you would be downgrading - i.e. smaller brakes, maybe smaller bearings, etc. Others could probably comment better on this one.

3) You would be going in the opposite direction of what is commonly thought of as 'Audi progress' Most of us 4x108 guys have contemplated this swap in the other direction, but often decide it's not worth the effort.

Wish it was closer, that's a really good deal for rims. Anyone else in the area interested in some nice cheap 16" rims?

Barry

sounds like not fun. I guess I'll have to let one of my local 4000 pals in on the deal.

Default Yeah, that should make a 4000/CGT or CQ owner REAL happy

Just check the offset to make sure it'll fit. Good luck!

Default What is the bolt pattern for an 86 5000 S

I've had my this car for 14 years and I'm not sure what it is... except that it is not the same as the '81 4000 I had.

Where is AZO is this? If they fit, I'm just an hour away....

Default Should be 4x108mm

As long as it's not a quattro (ie. 5 lug), it is 4x108mm. Your 81 4000 should have been 4x100mm, which is the same as lots of VWs as well.
