Default Fresh Air/Recirculation Flap Return Spring

I searched for and found information regarding window fogging problems that pointed me to the return spring for the recirc flap. Sure enough, it's broken. I found it dangling from the back of the flap. My question is where did it hook up? Does it hook to the bottom of the vacuum servo bracket? The Bentley manual does not seem to even show the spring. I can only find instructions for replacing the vacuum servo.

Default No, Bentley is not clear on that one...

There should be a bar between the vacuum servo hookup and the recirc flap. In your situation, the bar must have snapped in the middle. So, don't try to hook up the spring before you fix that. Once I fixed that using two hose clamp clamps a metal stick(a bolt for example) onto the broken plastic bar.

Default I unraveled the end of the spring, bent a new hook

Thanks for the info. I thought it looked like it went up there, but I wasn't sure. I unraveled the end of the spring, bent a new hook on the end of it and reconnected it to the plastic "bar" under the servo and it works. An easy and cheap fix for an Audi! That's a first.

Hi, do you access this spring from the engine compartment or under the dash on the passenger side?
Thanks.

Under the dash. Fairly easy once you get the glove box, tray and heater duct out of the way.
